Two Mayo members were on duty for the Bushwhacker Rally, both on Navi duties. Darragh Mullen was alongside Andrew Bustard in the Evo while Andrew Grennan sitting with Vivian Hamil.
Andrew’s day was cut short when they broke a wheel on Stage 3 while Darragh went on to finish the event in 12th place.
The Clare Stages Rally was won by Donegal cousins Declan & Brian Boyle. The nine stage rally which collided with All Ireland Sunday, had one Mayo crew taking part. James McGreal & Chris Mitchell in their Mitsubshi Evo finished the event in 57th place after rejoining the event under Rally 2 rules following a visit to a drain on stage 4.
Round five of the 2016 Valvoline Motorsport Ireland National Forest Rally Championship, headed to County Fermanagh for the Lakeland Stages Rally, run by the Enniskillen Motor Club. Ed Muldoon flew the Mayo glad and came away 21st overall and valuable championship points.
Mixed fortunes for Mayo members at Galway summer rally, Barry Cuffe & Stephen McGing top crew finishing 31st overall and 4th in class, James McGreal & Chris Mitchell finished 38th & 4th in class, Shane Buckley and Lorcan Moore retired on last loop after some very impressive times and Brian Lavelle retired his civic while leading Class 1.
Derek McCarthy navigating for Stephen Reynolds finished 7th in the Junior section.
Mayo members had no luck on the Ulster Rally a counting round of the Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Championship, Aaron Machale in his Skoda and Darragh Mullin navigating for Ruari McCaffrety both failed to finish the event
Killian Duffy alongside Abdulaziz Al Kuwari kept their Race Pro prepared Skoda Fabia clear of trouble to finish 10th WRC2 and 24th overall at the recent ADAC Rallye Deutschland.
Round four of the 2016 Valvoline Motorsport Ireland National Forest Rally Championship, the Jim Walsh Cork Forest Rally, run by the Cork Motor Club kicked back into life again after its summer break. The event based in Mallow drew Mayo members Ed Muldoon in the DJ Rally Evo and Crossmolina’s Lorcan Moore on the notes for Darren Barrett in a Honda Civic.
Ed with regular navigator Mark Byrne along side finished the event as Class 4 winners and in 17th place overall. Lorcan guided Darren to 5th in class and 48th place overall, good results for the traveling Mayo members.
